She gains an ally, Eddie Dupris (Morgan Freeman), a friend of Frankie,
who has confidence in her. Frankie recognizes something in Maggie and
out of sympathy he agrees to train her.
Soon, Maggie turns out to be more aggressive and finds herself on
the fast track to championship bout. She wins twelve fights in a row.
Frankie and Maggie develops a strong bond that is much deeper than a
trainer and a trainee. A deep bond without sex or romance. Now, for
Maggie, winning a bout is not for fame or money. When a hot shot manager
offers to help her achieve higher goals, she turns him down and remain
with Frankie.
The master storyteller, Clint Eastwood, narrates a captivating tale
of an ambitious poor woman who wants to be champion. In Frankie's role
he portrays a classical character. As a director he has drawn excellent
performance out of his co stars. Even in his old age he does his role
with energy and charisma. He explores and portray the power of love
through this film. He deserves another Oscar for the Best Picture of
the year.
Oscar winner, Hilary Swank, as Maggie puts up a memorable performance.
Rest of the cast is excellent. It is a well directed, acted and well
taken film. You don't have to be a boxing fan to enjoy it.
We rate this movie Very Good.
