'Lost In Translation' written and directed by Sofia Coppola is a story of a love affair between an older man and a younger woman. Bill Murray plays Bob Harris, an American TV star who is in Japan filming a whiskey commercial. Johansson plays Charlotte, whose husband John (Giovanni Ribisi) is a workaholic photographer on assignment in Tokyo. She is in her 20s and Bob in his 50s. She is a neglected wife and had been married for two years and she already feels lost in the relationship.

Bob and Charlotte meet in a bar and they discover each other. These two gets along very well and end up spending most of their time together drinking, talking, dining and singing karaoke together. The movie explores the sexual relationship between these two people.

The movie has a different style. The movie is sad and sweet and at the same time it is funny in places. Charlotte is young and beautiful and she is ready for a change in relationship just after two years of marriage. Bob had been around and he had seen many ups and downs in his relationship and he can see what charlotte is going through. As they venture through Tokyo and experience many encounters, they re-discover life's possibilities.

Murray is fantastic and Johansson is hot and they do an excellent job together. Especially near the end of the movie, when Bob runs after Charlotte and says something in her ear, nobody could hear what it is. Did he say he love her, or did he thank her, or did he say something else, it is left open to anybody’s guess.

It is a pleasant movie and Bill Murray could be the best actor at the Oscar this year and the movie itself is Oscar worthy. We recommend this movie to any one, it is one of the best movies of the year 2003.
