A remake of the 1933 classic "King Kong", is a poignant love story.
Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts) is a jobless actress in New York City during the Depression era,
and she was on the look out for a decent role in a film. Eccentric filmmaker Carl Denham (Jack Black) had
been fighting with his producers regarding funding. Ann got a chance at the last
minute as a replacement star in Denham's jungle epic but it is supposed to be shot in
Singapore. So the director, the screenwriter Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody), the cast and the whole crew started on a
steamer to Singapore but due to bad weather the ship got struck in Skull Island.
By the time, Jack falls in love with Ann.
The natives of the island capture Ann and serve her up as a sacrifice to a great ape called King
Kong. Instead of eating her up, the beast saves her. The other creatures of the island are really wild beasts.
Now, Jack tries to convince Carl and the ship's crew that they have to rescue
Ann. In the meantime Ann found out that her captor Kong is really fascinated by
her. After she performed a song and a dance sequence, the ape really liked her.
But Carl's ego and thrust for glory forced him to manipulate the situation and capture Kong and take him to New York City
to make some fast money.
In New York City, Kong escapes and goes on a rampage in the City, looking for
Ann. When he found her, they had a romantic stint in the Central Park. Jack is really upset by the
romantic relation between Kong and Ann but he is helpless in front of the big
beast. Find out more about this love triangle.
The visionary director Peter Jackson faithfully follows the outlines of
the original film and produces a film that is better than the original.
He fulfills his ambition to make a marvelous King Kong movie with rare
CGI effects, great action and tragic emotions.
Beautiful Naomi Watts as Ann presents an excellent performance. As a woman in the
center of a love triangle, she portrays her anxiety, nervousness and emotions
very well. But Kong is the real star of the film and he steals the show.
The romance between Ann and Kong makes the film so wonderful and the emotion between them feels so
real. The movie is good for the young and the old alike and it could be enjoyed by
everyone. The die hard fans of King Kong will greatly enjoy this film. This is one of the best films of the year and it is worth
seeing on the big screen.
We rate this movie GOOD.
