Holy Trinity Church

The early 19th century Holy Trinity Church located on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg is one of the oldest church of Allahabad, located about 4kms from the city centre. The church was constructed in 1839 under the supervision of lieutenant Sharp and was designed by Major Smith. It was consecrated by Bishop David Wilson, on 19th Feb 1841. Holy Trinity Church is a fine work of art, based on Gibb's example of St. Martin-in-fields, London with attractive tablets from the Gwalior campaign of 1843 and the 1857 mutiny.

Actually, Holy Trinity Church is the second oldest church in Allahabad; Union Church (in Civil Lines, Allahabad) was built by the British in 1818, and is still in use to this day. Thank you.
