Situated on Jawahar Road near Rajwada, Kanch Mandir also known as Hukamchand
Temple is a Jain Temple built by the "Cotton King" Sir Hukamchand
in the early 20th century. As the name suggests, the entire temple is
made up of coloured glasses (Kaanch) and paintings.
The interiors are decorated with elaborate
mirror work and the walls, ceilings, floor, pillars and doors are all
adorned with various patterns of glass like Chinese Lantern Type
Colored Glass and Cut Glass Chandeliers. The use of glass beads
and raised figures produces a pleasing 3-D effect. The paintings are done
in coloured glass which depict stories from Jain scriptures. The temple
is opened from 10.00 am.
