Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum earlier known as the Victoria and Albert Museum, is located in the Veermata Jijabai Bhonsle Udyan Botanical garden north of the city centre. Founded in 1872, it is housed in a fine Italian Renaissance-style building with ornate pillars, a decorative ceiling, ironwork balconies and Minton stair tiles. The ground floor contains a collection of bronze sculptures, metal ware, fossils and model ships etc. First floor relate to the city's past which include old maps of Mumbai dating back to the 17th century and model relief, photos and biographies of the city's leading historic figures. This museum owned and run by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation is open daily from 10.30am to 4.30pm except Wednesdays. Address: |
