The 14kms long Wayand Ghat enroute to Wayanad, bordering the district, is 44 kms from Kozhikode. The green ghats has nine hairpin bends, each turn taking one to a higher altitude offering a better view of the picturesque plains below. The route developed by the British was once the haven of tribals. The thick forests surrounding the ghat is called the 'Chirapunchi of Kerala' for the heavy rainfall experienced in the area.

Kalaman Para Maruthilavu, Kakkad Eco Tourism Centre and Kolamala Eco Tourism are some of the places of tourist interest along the Kozhikode –Wayanad National highways.
