Kozhikode Beach, located within the city about 1km from the railway station is one of the good places to hang out with friends and family. The near by Lion’s club park specially meant for children and the Marine water aquarium with variety of fresh water fish are the major attractions of the beach. The park is open on all days from 3 pm onwards and the aquarium from 8am to 8pm. The old world charm retained in the old lighthouse and the two crumbling piers, each more than a hundred years old, that run into the sea is adding to its natural beauty. The sight of fishermen entering the sea with the small rowing boats, fighting with waves and coming back with various fishes is worth watching. The beach is a favourite haunt of sunset viewers and one could enjoy it tasting the ice cream or yummy seafood that are available from the beach stalls.
