Vavarambalam

Vavarambalam located is Erumeli, 56 km north east of Kottayam is the biggest pilgrim centre in the district. Also known as Nainar Mosque, it is dedicated to Vavar, a contemporary and companion of the deity, Sree Ayyappa of the Sabarimala temple. The unique feature of the mosque is that Hindu pilgrims customarily worship here before their trek to Sabarimala during the Makara Vilakku season. Vavarambalam is famous for 'pettathullal' held on January.
