Fort Kochi Beach, the venue of the annual colourful celebration 'Cochin Carnival', can be easily identified by the presence of Chinese fishing nets. The beach has a pathway that runs along the coastline for nearly 1km or more, with benches to sit and relax and enjoy the breeze and the sea view. A stroll along the beach, particularly at sunset with the Chinese fishing nets and sailing ships in the background will be a memorable experience. One can relish instantly prepared fish freshly caught in the nets. Located 13kms from Ernakulam city centre.
How to Reach :
One can reach here either by waterways or roadways. Get a boat from Ernakulam
Boat Jetty and a 15 minutes journey will take you to Fort Kochi Jetty.
By road, it will take around 30 minutes to reach Fort Kochi from Ernakulam
South Railway Station.
One of the less visited but yet beautiful beach is Puthuvype. A light house arguably said to be the tallest in India is situated less than half a kilometer away from the beach. Entry to the light house is permitted from 3 P.M to 5 P.M. Situated in Vypin, 5 km west of High Court Junction. Four beaches Puthuvype - Kuzuppilly - Cherai - Munambam are located in succession.
How to Reach :
It will take around 14 minutes to reach here from Ernakulam High Court Junction.
Taking a turn from the high court junction and across the Goshree bridge, one
can reach Vypeen. Ferry services are available from Fort Cochin Jetty to Vypeen.
Kuzhupilly village is closely located to Cherai and is about 21kms away from Cochin city. The way to the beach has its own charm with serene backwaters on both sides.
How to Reach :
Taking a turn from the high court junction and across the Goshree bridge,
one can reach Vypeen and from there take the Cherrai-Munambam route to reach
Kuzhupilly. It will take around 40 minutes from Ernakulam to reach the beach.
Cherai Beach, a beautiful beach bordering the northern end of Vypeen Island, is located about 5 km from Kuzhuppilly beach and 26 km from Ernakulam / Kochi City Centre .
How to Reach :
Taking a turn from the high court junction and across the Goshree bridge,
one can reach Vypeen and from there take the Cherrai-Munambam route to reach
Cherai which can be access through a 50 minutes drive.
Situated at the northern end of Cherai Beach, Munambam beach (Muziris Golden Beach) is where the River Periyar flows into the Arabian Sea. Located 30kms from the city centre, it is a perfect place to sit and enjoy the view, and watch local fishermen in their traditional canoes and colourful boats pass by.
How to Reach :
An hour drive from Ernakulam High-court-junction along vypin-pallipuram-
cheria road will take you to Munambam beach.
