Established in 1979 in the district of Navsari district on the National
Highway 8, Vansda National Park is located 80 km north- east to the city
of Valsad. The park is a haven for the wild animals and it is a pleasure
of the animal lovers to observe them closely. Comprising an area of 24
km² this dense forest houses a wide variety of forest lives such
as tigers, leopards, python, four-horned antelope, pangolin, barking deer,
rusty spotted cats etc. It is a home to a colorful species of birds such
as Great black woodpecker, Malabar trogon, shama, emerald dove, grey hornbill,
racket-tailed drongo, paradise flycatcher, leaf birds, thrushes, sunbirds,
pea fowls. Nature lovers and tourists visit this place, specially during
the month of October to March. Jeep safaris are available to go around
the park and observe the wild animals closely.
