The national gallery contains portraits of Indian freedom fighters, rare
documents, sculptures, ceramic murals and recordings of the voices of
125 prominent figures of India's Independence movement. Inaugurated in
1977 and located in the basement of the Central State Library building
in Sector 17, it is one of the three National Galleries (the other two
are in Delhi and Calcutta) enriched with 1000 portraits and 100 panels
piecing together India’s epic struggle for freedom. The library here contains
about 1300 books on freedom struggle.
Visiting Hours : 09.00 a.m. to 05.00 p.m. all days except Saturday &
Sunday and official holidays.
