Industries Agriculture In the district of Daman, the important field and garden crops grown are paddy, Ragi, groundnut, pulses and beans, wheat, banana, sapota and mango. The net sown area is about 3727 hectares which forms about 67% of the districts geographical area. The Damanganga Project, located in the Dadra and Nagar Haveli, is a joint venture of the state of Gujarat and Goa and the Union Territory of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Double cropping has been introduced through the provision of irrigation facilities. For increasing agricultural production, area under double cropping has been increased by raising irrigation schemes as well as tapping surface water through minor irrigation potential. Fishing is the main economic activity. Mechanical boats and other requisites are being provided. Cattle, buffaloes, sheep's and goats are the main livestock. |
