Suave, dashing and handsome, model-turned-actor Samir Soni's career has been
a roller-coaster ride. A graduate
student from University of California, Los Angeles, Soni made his mark as the
smart-n-slick Ashok Gupta in Doordarshan's 'A Mouthful of Sky' in 1996. He made
his debut in Hindi films with 'China Gate'(1998), where his role got slashed at
the editing table. This was followed by 'Lajja'(2001) starring
Madhuri Dixit, Kahan Ho Tum'(2003), 'Basti'(2003), as Amitabh Bachchan's son in
'Baghban'(2003) and crossover movies like Pamela Rook's National Award winning
'Dance Like A Man' (2003). But it was his role as Purab in the serial, 'Jassi jaisi koi
nahi' on Sony
Entertainment Television, that made him
popular. Besides movies and soaps, he has acted in plays like 'Ask what father
says', 'Champagne on the house', 'Insomnia', 'Double act' etc. |
