Gopika, the charming girl from kerala, is one of the successful heroines
in the south Indian Film Industry. Gopika says she was never interested
in acting. After completing her 12th standard from St. Raphel School
in Ollur, she did her sociology from Calicut University . A win in a
beauty contest in Thrissur, followed by a jewellery advertisement, got
her a film offer. Famous Malayalam director Thulasi Das gave her a chance
in his movie 'Pranayamanithooval' (2002). The film bombed but she got
recognition in the film industry.
Her second film, '4
The people' (2004), was a massive hit in Kerala. The song 'Lejjavathiye'
from that movie granted her more publicity. Dubbed versions did well
in the other South Indian languages. Renowned Tamil director Cheran
happened to see her stills from '4 The people' and she was chosen as
one of the heroines in his film 'Autograph' (2004). It was one of the
biggest Tamil hits of 2004. Her next movie in Tamil was '4 students'
(2004). She looked ravishing in 'Kana Kandein' (2005), opposite Srikanth.
Simbu was her pair in the movie 'Totti Jaya'(2005) which also was a
hit.
