Air:
The international airport is located at Avanashi Road at Peelamedu, about 21kms from the city center. Major airlines like Indian Airlines, Spice Jet, Kingfisher Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines, Jet Lite, Silk Air, Air Arabia, Paramount Airways and Jet Airways operate flights out of Coimbatore Airport. It has regular flights from Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kozhikode, Madurai, Mumbai and New Delhi. International services to Sharjah, Colombo and Singapore is also available from here.

Rail:
Coimbatore is a major railway junction on the Southern Railways and the main stations are Coimbatore junction and North Coimbatore station. Trains are available from here to various places like Chennai, Rameswaram, Madurai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kanyakumari, Kozhikode, Mettupalayam, Kochi and Delhi. Apart from the main stations, there are several small stations here and one among them is Podanur Junction. Almost all trains stop at this station.

Road:
Coimbatore city is well connected by road with all the major places in South India. NH 47, NH 67 and NH 209 are the three national highways passing through the city. State Transport Corporation's Interstate Express buses are available from the Central Bus Stands situated at Gandhipuram. State road transport corporations of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka along with the private bus services operate bus services from the city connecting various places of these states such as Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin, Chennai, Kozhikode, Hyderabad and Bangalore. For local transportation, city buses, taxis and auto rickshaws are available.
