Shopping
Renowned as the textile capital of South India, Coimbatore city has got more
than 30,000 small, medium and large industries and Textile mills. It is the
main shopping area for textiles and one could purchase different types of South
Indian sarees like the Kanchipuram silk, Mysore silk etc. During festival seasons
such as Deepavali, Pongal, and Aadi, almost all the shops offers great discounts.
Town Hall Area, located near to the Coimbatore railway station
contains many shopping areas like Oppanakara Street, Raja Street and Big Bazaar
Street. Oppanakara Street is a major shoppers paradise with big textiles shops
such as Chennai Silks, Sree Ganapati Silks, and Crocodile Gallery. One could
purchase accessories and jewels from the Raja Street.

Sukravar Pettai - This Street, known for Coimbatore cotton and is good for handloom
saris collection. Nalli, Poompuhar and Tansi textile shops have wonderful silk
sari collection
100 Feet Road - One of the major textile showroom namely Kalyan silks known
for silk saris is located here.
RS Puram (DB Road/CB Road): The well shopping and residential area of Coimbatore
city, RS Puram has branded outlets such as Fabindia.
Gandhipuram (Cross Cut Road): Gandhipuram, another shopping region of the city
has many known textile shops like Mahaveers, PSR, Shree Devi Textiles and Trouser
Town.
