The important festivals in the district
are held at

(Pooram Festival, March/April),
- Lokanarkavu Bagavathi temple, Memunda,
Vadakara (two festivals-(1) March/April, (2)November/December),
- Kadappally Kumbhom Thira, Puduppanam,
Vadakara Shri Pisharikavu Bhagavathi temple, Viyur, Thikkody (Kaliatta
Mahotasavam in March),
- Vettakkorumakan pattu in the Balussery
Fort, Koyilandy,
- Sreekanteswara temple festival, Kozhikode
(Sivarathri Festival for seven days in February/March),
- Thacholi Manikkoth Temple Festival (February),
- Appavanibha Nercha at Idiyangara
Sheik Kasjid.

Revathy Pattathanam
The Pattathanam takes place at thali temple during the month of thulam.
It is said that this unique intellectual gathering commenced during the
fag end of the 13th century. The seven-day debate starts
on Revathi day and concludes on Thiruvathira day of the Malayalam moth of
Thulam. Many stories are attributed to the beginning of the pattathanam.

Utsavam at Sree Venkateswara Temple
It is celebrated for 7 days during Sivaratri week. Elephant procession,
exhibition, fair and fairworks are conducted during the festival
|
Malabar Mahotsavam (Jan-Feb)
It is a grand festival of the Malabar region. The traditional and
cultural art forms make it a spectacular cultural extravaganza .

Jalotsavam
Three Jalotsavams (water fiestas) are held every year as part of the
Onam festivals. It is conducted by the sports clubs at Korappuzha,
Moorad and Pongilodippara. |
