Kainakari Chavara Bhavan
Chavara Bhavan is situated at Kainakari village, about 6 km from Alappuzha. Kainakari is the birth place of the blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, who was a Carmelite religious priest. There is an ancient chapel here dedicated to the saint, built on the site of his birth enclosing his ancestral home. It is a place of worship where thousands of devotees gather for prayer and is believed to receive numerous favours. Mass and the Novena Prayer are held here regularly. There are facilities for meditation (bhajana) at the chapel. Special prayers are held on the First Saturday of every month. Chavara Bhavan adjacent to the chapel accommodates the priests. The birth Anniversary of the saint is celebrated every year on the Second Saturday and Sunday of February. The saint passed away on January 9th and he was buried at Mannanam in Kottayam. There is a shrine in Mannanam also dedicated to him.

Arthunkal St. Andrews Forane Church
Located 6kms south west from Cherthala and 22 km north of Alappuzha, Arthunkal is a small beautiful coastal village famous for the St. Sebastian's feast at the St. Andrews Forane Church here. The Church better known as Arthunkal church, is an important Christian pilgrim center established by Portuguese missionaries. The miraculous statue of St.Sebastian in the church was brought from Milan and is placed behind an altar in the right wing of the church.

Arthunkal Perunnal, the feast of St. Sebastian, is a 10-day festival which falls in the beginning of January. The highlights of the concluding day of the festival include an extraordinary ritual where devotees crawl on their knees all the way from the nearby beach to the church. Afterwards there is a ceremonial procession to the beach.

Edathua Church
Edathua Church is a gigantic shrine situated on the banks of river Pampa about 24 km from Alappuzha, on the Alappuzha - Thiruvalla Road. The church dedicated to St. George, was built in 1810, and styled on the medieval churches of Europe. It is believed that prayers and offerings at this church help to recover from mental imbalances and other diseases. The annual feast is celebrated from April 27th to7th of May (Malayalam month of Medam) and pilgrims from all parts of South India, irrespective of caste and creed, visit the church and seek the blessings of the saint. Although the festival lasts for 11 days, the major festival will be celebrated only on the last few days before the feast day on the 6th of May. The holy mass and novena would held on all days of the festival, in Tamil and Malayalam.

The Latin Catholic Church
The Latin Catholic Church, situated near Kannan Varkey Bridge and 1km away from the Alappuzha Town, is one of the oldest church in Alappuzha. The interior of the church is full of sculpture works. On every Tuesday, special prayers are held called 'Novena' and it is believed that those who participate in the prayer can attain their desires.

Champakulam Church
St. Mary's Forane Church also known as Champakulam Church is one of the oldest churches in Kerala. Built in the year 1870, it is believed to be one among the seven churches established by St. Thomas, the Apostle. Interior of the church is beautifully adorned with mural paintings. The annual feast is held on the 3rd Sunday of October.

Mosques

Mackudusha Juma Masjid
Mackusha Masjid which holds the Makbara of Mackudu Sha is located near the commercial canal. Hundreds of devotees come here to offer prayers for curing diseases. A 'Ziyarath' is usually held on Thursday and Sunday evenings.

Jamath Masthan Masjid
Jamath Masthan Masjid is situated near Kallupalam Junction in Alappuzha. This 400 year old Masjid has the Makbara of Mastan Valiullahi. An annual Urs "Aandu Nercha" of Mastan Valiullahi is celebrated on Muharam. The celebration begins on the first day of the month and continues for 17 days.
