notable festivals in Jamnagar are Diwali, Navratri, Makar Sankrati (Kite Festival), Janmashtami and Holi. Ramnavami,
Mahashivaratri,
Mahavir Jayanti and Paryushana are also celebrated in a big way. They symbolize people's cultural, social and religious

Diwali
Diwali is a four day festival of the Hindu New Year, beginning with Laxmi-puja.
Diwali celebrations are accompanied by fire-crackers and sweets. Every home
is illuminated and decorated.

Navaratri
Navaratri is the festival celebrated for nine nights in honour of Goddess
Amba. Both male and female congregate in public to perform the Garba dance and
the Ras. It begins on the1st day of Ashwin, of the bright fortnight. On the
10th day, is Dussehra, which celebrates the victory of Lord Rama over Ravan.

Janmasthami, the Birthday of Lord Krishna, is celebrated on the twenty-third day in the month of Shravan as per Hindu calender
(August/September). A fair is held on this day at Jamnagar.
