Indira Park
Indira Park is situated in the lower tank bund of Hyderabad. Spread over an area of 76 acres
along the Hussain Sagar lake, there is a children's park and a small lake which provide boating facilities.
The flora of the park include wild date palms, keuvda plantations, sandalwood
trees and also home fruit plants like mango and kala jamun (Indian Blackberry).
The musical dancing fountains and waterfalls, a natural living
rock sanctuary with unique rock sculptures are among the added attractions here.
Lumbini Park
Lumbini Park spread over an area of 4 acres is located adjacent to Hussain Sagar
Lake right across the Buddha Statue, at a distance of 3kms from Hyderabad. This
amusement park, named after the garden that was the birthplace of Buddha, offers
a lot of amusement for all kinds of people.
At the main entrance of the park, there is a large floral clock
with brightly colored flowers of different shades. The major highlight of the
park is the spectacular musical and dancing fountain and water cascade, provided
with colorful lights.
The fountain which dance to the tunes of popular numbers from Hindi and Telugu
films draws huge crowds. The visitors can also avail and enjoy the boating facilities
provided at the nearby Hussain Sagar Lake. The Lumbini park comes alive in all its splendor at night. It is open
on all days from 9.00 A.M. to 9.00 P.M. except Mondays.
Nehru Zoological Park
The extensive Nehru Zoological park, spanning 380 lush green acres on the Hyderabad
- Bangalore highway is one of the largest zoo's in India. This premier recreation
spot was opened to public in 1963. Situated 16kms from Hyderabad, in the Bahadurpura
area, this vast wildlife sanctuary contains 1500 species of birds, animals and
reptiles. White peacocks, Royal Bengal Tiger and White Tiger, Black Panther,
rhinoceros, Asiatic Lions, American Bison, Zebras etc are among the different
species found in the park. It also has a large collection of snakes like hooded
Indian Cobra, Russell's Viper, Giant rock-python, tree snakes etc.
The crocodile hatchery and lion safari are the major attractions
within the zoo. The Zoological park also houses a natural history museum that
displays ancient artifacts and dummies of stuffed animals, a nocturnal Birds
park which houses rare and exotic species of nocturnal birds and animals, an
aquarium, a children's amusement park and a museum dedicated to pre-historic
animals.
Nehru Zoological Park is open on all days except Mondays. The
timings are 8.00A.M to 5.30P.M (April to June) and 8.30A.M to 5.00P.M (July
to March). The entry fee is Rs. 20 for adult and Rs. 10 for children.

Public Gardens
The cities largest and oldest park, Public Gardens is located in a busy area
in Nampally. With in the beautiful sprawling green garden premises there lies
a number of public buildings. To the right of the main gate is a small beautifully
constructed Mosque, where the seventh Nizam is said to have prayed every Friday.
Flanking the mosque are two old buildings now occupied by the Abul Kalam Institute
of Oriental Studies. To the left is a mini school called Jawahar Bal Bhavan
for children to be trained in Fine Arts and an auditorium called Indira Gandhi
Auditorium where exhibitions and contests for children are held. The public
garden houses two museums, i.e the Health Museum and Andhra Pradesh State Archaeological
Museum, a park for kids and an open air auditorium named Lalitha Kala Thoranam
which is a venue for many film festivals, fashion shows and beauty pageants.
Apart from these, the most stunning structure in the public garden is the Andhra
Pradesh Legislative Assembly building. This white building located amidst the
sprawling green lawns is beautiful. There is also a huge statue of Mahatma Gandhi
sitting in a praying posture.
Entry timings are from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon and 2.00 P.M. to 5.00 P.M. It
is closed on Fridays.
Mahavir
Harina Vanasthali National Park
The park is located in Vanasthalipuram, on the outskirts of Hyderabad city at
a distance of about 15-km on the Hyderabad- Vijayawada highway. The major highlight
of this national park, is the deer park which has an undulating terrain of 189
hectares dominated by acacia trees. It is home to the beautiful black bucks
with their spiral horns, along with several species of birds. More

Shamirpet Deer Park
Shamirpet Deer Park, located in Bolaram Cantonment of Hyderabad, is about 24kms
away from the city. The park stretches over a vast area of 54 acres with deciduous
forest giving shelter to a wide array of animals. Famous as the home to the
Blackbuck and the Chital deer, several other species of deer can also be seen
in their natural habitat. The serene Shamirper lake and the thick vegetation
around the park makes it a charming picnic spot. Top
Mrugavani National park
The Mrugavani National park covering an area of 3.60 sq. km (700 acres) was
established in October, 1994. It is situated at Chilkur near Himayatsagar lake
at a distance of 25 kms from Hyderabad. The park is an urban refuge for small
mammals like wildboar, jungle cat etc. and contains about 600 varieties of birds,
20 varieties of snakes and other animal habitat. Over 600 plant species including
herbs, shrubs, climbers and trees like Teak, Rosewood, Sandalwood, Neem, Bamboo

Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park
Located at Jubilee hill, Hyderabad, the KBR National park covers an area of
156.30 hectares. Established in 1994 to safeguard the biodiversity and richness
of the area, it is named after late Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, the former Chief
Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The fauna comprises around 113 species of birds,
20 species of reptiles, 15 species of butterflies, 20 species of mammals and

Sanjeevaiah Park
One of the most prominent garden parks in Hyderabad, Sanjeevaiah Park is located
near Hussain Sagar Lake at the end of the Necklace Road. The park spread over
an area of 99 acres with lush green gardens is named after Dr. Neelam Sanjeev
Reddy, the former President of India.
Yogibear Children’s Park
It is adjacent to Sanjeevaiah park, is an entertainment
centre for children and toddlers. It has a miniature Golf Tract of 19 holes, a snack bar and an event shed for conducting
competitions.
NTR Gardens
Sprawling over an area of 36 acres and located near Hussainsagar lake is the
holiday spot, NTR gardens. The garden which houses a memorial to the former
Chief Minister Sri. N.T. Rama Rao, provides lots of recreation facilities like
toy train, car cafe, Japanese garden etc. The highlight of NTR garden is the
2000 sq.mts fruit restaurant which is surrounded by three petal shaped pools.
It is open from 2.30P.M to 10.00P.M. Rs 15/- for adults and Rs. 10/- for children.
Hyderabad Botanical Gardens
The first Botanical Gardens in Andhra Pradesh spread over 120 acres of land
is located in Kothaguda Reserve Forest near the Hi-tech city, Madhapur (14km
from the city). The park provides an unforgettable experience to the visitors
with large water bodies, rolling meadows, natural forests, rich grasslands and
exquisite rock formations. Also known as the Bhaskar Reddy Botanical garden,
everything from the rarest species of plants to a unique variety of flowers
can be seen here.
The garden has amenities for parking, cafeteria, ticketing
booth, visitor shelter, seating benches, drinking water and toilet. The entry
fee is Rs.10 for adults and Rs.5 for children.
