M.Sc (regular) - 5 year integrated M.Sc. in Photonics
Eligibility: Pass in Plus Two examination of the State of Kerala with
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects or any other
examination accepted as equivalent thereto securing a minimum of 50%
marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
put together.
Duration: 10 semesters
M. Tech in Optoelectronics and Laser Technology
Eligibility: Candidates should have a Masters degree in Physics/Electronics
or B Tech or equivalent degree/AMIE/AMIETE in Electronics and Communication
Engineering/Electronics Engineering/Electrical Engineering from any
recognized University or Institution. The candidates should have a valid
GATE score in Physics, electronics and in electrical engineering.
Duration: 24 months that consists of 4 semesters.
M. Phil. in Photonics
Eligibility: Students having a masters degree with 55 % marks or equitant
CGPA in Physics or Electronic Science from Cochin University of Science
and Technology or any other qualification from other universities, recognised
as equivalent by the Cochin University of Science and Technology can
apply for the M. Phil. programme
Duration: Two-semester course with the duration of one year.
PhD Programme
Eligibility: Candidates should have a masters degree (M. Sc or M. Tech
usually above 50%) in Physics, Electronics, Optoelectronics, Communication,
Electrical or related fields from Cochin University of Science and Technology
or any other qualification from other universities. Candidates having
NET score can join at any time of the year.

Eligibility : B. Tech or equivalent or M.Sc. (or equivalent) Degree
Holders who have qualified GATE (for full time) with a valid score of
75% for General Category Candidates and 50% for SC/ST/PH candidates.
70% weightage will be given for GATE score and 30% for performance in
test / interview
Duration : The minimum duration is 4 semesters (24 months) for full
time and 6 semesters (36 months) for part-time

Eligibility: The entry requirement for the PhD/MPhil degrees is the
equivalent of a First or Upper Second Class BSc Honours or MSci degree
